The safety of natural hair styling products is an important reason to choose these over products which contain chemicals. Do you really want to be styling your hair with a whole load of chemicals that you have no idea what they are ( let alone pronounce ! ). Another consideration is what they are doing to your hair, and your skin when you wash them out of your hair?
Cruelty-Free
When choosing natural hair styling products I recommend companies that are cruelty-free. It's more ethical. It's worth remembering that not all companies that describe their products as 'natural' are completely natural. The law on this is not very specific. A company can use the description 'natural' willy-nilly on their products. Those same products could contain some natural ingredients and lots of chemicals. It's best to look at the ingredients. I find that the companies using only natural ingredients are most often cruelty-free. Meaning no animal testing ( after all, there's no chemicals ) and some natural companies are also vegan ( no animal-derived ingredients). Natural should be natural - 100%.
Condition
Silicones:
In some well known anti-frizz hair styling products such as mousses and gels, serums etc., one of the ingredients commonly used is silicone. This is to smooth your hair down, stop it looking frizzy, and give a smoother, shinier appearance.
Silicones are viscous ( thick and sticky) oily liquids which a not water soluble, so they are extremely hard to wash out. Many people find with products containing silicones that at first their hair seems lovely and shiny and smooth ( it's not really, it's just that it appears that way because of the silicone coating on the hair surface) so they carry on using it.
After a while though, with repeated use the silicone starts to build up on the hair surface ( as it is so hard to wash out, there is usually a residue of silicone left on the hair after shampooing).
The build up of silicone on the hair surface stops any conditioners penetrating the hair shaft, resulting in completely parched, dried out, unmanageable hair. The very thing you are trying to avoid if you have frizzy dry hair in the first place.
The only way to remove the silcone build up from the hair is to use a harsh, detergent-based shampoo. Even then it will probably take several washes to get it all out. Imagine what your hair would be like after that lot. I know I would never get a comb through mine ever again !
Because the hair gets drier with all the detergent-based shampoos, many people think they need to use more silicones to smooth the frizz down. But at the end of the day it is a vicious circle that needs to be broken if you are ever to have naturally healthy-looking, frizz-free hair.
My advice: forget products which contain silicones. Use only natural products that truly moisturise and condition your hair as you style. That way, there is no need for harsh shampoos to rid your hair of unwanted silicone residues. It makes more sense to gently cleanse and condition your hair, and moisturise as you style, leaving you with soft, shiny, manageable hair. Naturally.
Alcohols:
The next baddies in hair styling products are certain types of alcohols.
SD alcohol, SD alcohol 40, Alcohol denat, Propanol, Propyl alcohol and Isopropyl alcohol are all baddies for your hair. These types of alcohol dry out your hair like nothing on earth, especially if you have frizzy hair.
I have noticed ingredients like alcohol denat in a lot of hair straightening protection sprays.
My daughter used to use these sprays a lot when she started straightening her hair with ceramic straighteners which are used at an extremely high temperature - usually approx 200 degrees. She noticed that her hair got drier and drier, but when she stopped using the sprays and just straightened her hair without any product, the condition of her hair improved dramatically( with a lot of extra conditioning treatments to help it get back to normal).
These alcohols are put in to help dry the hair quicker while you style it. Personally, I would rather spend a bit longer styling my hair and have it in better condition!
It's worth mentioning that not all alcohols are bad for the hair. If you avoid the ones mentioned above, you should be ok.

Mandarin Magic Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing Jelly by Aubrey Organics is a fantastic styling product for dry, frizzy hair. As you can tell from the name, it smells gorgeous too ! Ever since I have been using Aubrey Organics products my once frizzy parched hair has been so easy to manage that I very rarely need any styling products on it any more. However, now and again I use this when I want my curls to look especially gorgeous and glossy. You don't need much, and it really moisturises. My hair feels so soft whenever I use this. Definately a keeper.

Dry/Fine Hair
As mentioned above, Mandarin Magic Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing Jelly by Aubrey Organics is such a wonderfully moisturising styling product for dry hair. I have dry frizzy hair, but even if yours is dry and fine, this beautifully scented jelly leaves your hair soooo soft you'll want to keep sniffing it!
This product gives a gentle hold with no stickiness. It won't weigh your hair down or make it feel loaded, but it gently keeps it in place and gives it a protective coating of moisture.

I could go on....
