Clip In Human Hair Extensions
When choosing hair extensions, it's probably worth paying a bit more to have natural human hair extensions rather than synthetic. The reasons for this are that natural hair extensions can be styled as an extension of your own hair . You can straighten them, curl them, wash them etc. Also, natural human hair extensions look more, well, natural !
Synthetic hair extensions don't tend to style well with straighteners/curling irons . Synthetic hair is great for all-over lace front wigs though, as they are usually in a set 'ready to wear' style, and therefore have no need for heat appliances/styling.
Clip in hair extensions are the easiest, fastest way to a new head of hair. I particularly like the clip on wavy hair extensions which are so popular right now.
Curly human hair clip in hair extensions are quick to apply - no glue, no mess, no expensive visit to the hair salon. Wavy hair is so in right now, and clip on wavy hair extensions are your best bet if you want a trendy look with minimum fuss.

If you are thinking about buying clip in hair extensions to enhance your look, it's worth buying 'whole head' hair extensions. With these you get somewhere between 8-10 clip-in pieces. Usually four (depending on the number of pieces in the pack) pieces clip in the back of the hair in levels, each level being roughly one and a half inches higher than the next. This gives a lovely natural graduation of the hair. The sides work in a similar way, so that you have length at the back, and plenty of hair and length at the side which is very important to complete the look.
I often see ladies with the extensions that only clip in the back, and they don't look natural. They are less expensive, yes. But the overall look is nowhere near as natural. If I can see, walking down the street, that someone is wearing hair extensions, then they either have 'the clip in the back only' type, or the colour of the hair extensions doesn't match the wearer's natural hair colour.
Colour
This brings me on to another important consideration when choosing hair extensions. Colour.
If you look at a section of your hair closely, you will see that often it is made up of several colours/tones rather than one. There are exceptions to this rule of course. If you have naturally jet-black hair, naturally platinum blonde hair etc.. or if your hair is coloured (dyed) all one colour.
In most cases though, there are several colours that make up the overall colour.
When choosing hair extensions, it's worth having a look at the ones that are made up of several colours closest to your own natural hair colours, as these will blend much better than a single block of colour.
If you have blonde highlights, remember to choose extensions that include the blonde of your highlights as well as your natural hair colour. You will need a blend of these colours for a natural look. Many women with highlights choose blonde hair extensions and forget that they are not all-over blonde, even though they think of themselves as blonde. So they choose a single block colour of blonde for their hair extensions, and the result is that the ends ( the extensions) look far lighter than the roots and the rest of the hair and it looks fake. You want everyone to think it's your hair. So choose carefully.
If your hair is one definate colour ( say, black for example ) it's much easier to match your colour.
