Reverse Time Naturally With Facial Exercises

Facial exercises are the best, natural anti-aging remedy. If you are looking for natural alternatives to chemical-filled, expensive anti-ageing creams, facial exercises are the answer.

I originally bought a facial exercises book  about 10 years ago when I was 30. I read the book with great enthusiasm, and started the basic exercises for a week or so. Then I kind of didn't get around to doing them every day, then it all died a death as I always seemed to be too busy, too tired or something would come up that I had to deal with and I would forget.

Ten years later, without any facial exercises, my face was on the downslide. Although I feel and act very young for my age, my face was not longer reflecting this young person inside me. It was getting depressing looking in the mirror and seeing the beginnings of a middle aged woman looking back at me, and even more depressing, I knew that it was going to get worse.

That's when I dragged out the facial exercises book I had purchased all those years ago. Good job I'm a hoarder !  Anyway, five months later, and I cannot believe the difference. You may think I am just saying that, but the exercises have more than lived up to their promise of a more youthful complexion.

Everyone is different, but to give you an idea, I had drooping jowls, fine lines around my lips making them look like an old lady who had been smoking 40 a day all her life ( I don't smoke ! ), drooping eyelids, a really flat face with no shape, forehead frown lines etc etc.... you get the picture.

After five months, I look a different person and everybody tells me how young I look. I think the biggest difference for me  ( and I know everyone is different) has been the lifting at the sides of my mouth and the fact that my face now has it's youthful shape again due to the cheek and mouth exercises. My mouth is fuller ( probably fuller than it's ever been), the hollows in my cheeks are gone, my eyelids are lifted ( who needs an surgical eyelift) and my skin glows. The only thing that hasn't changed much for me are the forehead frown lines, but I know that's because I frown continually in my sleep !

When we age the muscles in our faces become slack, and because our face muscles are directly attached to our skin they take the skin with them when they slacken, resulting in sagging skin. It makes sense then, to exercise these muscles back to their youthful fitness. As the muscles become stronger, the skin of the face becomes gradually lifted, firmer and more radiant. I am living proof that this works. I know now that as long as I spend 15 minutes a day on my exercises ( including the warm-up and relaxation ) my face will continue to look 10 years younger than my true age. This has been a kind of miracle for me - that's why I am recommending facial exercises as the best natural facelift you can get. And it's free! Well, apart from the cost of the book but that is a snip compared to the price of a surgical facelift. And who would want to go through that anyway?

On the subject of surgical facelifts. Aside from the expense, the discomfort and any risks associated with the operation being botched, the anaesthetic risks etc, remember also that a surgical facelift does not last indefinately. The sagging skin is cut away or dragged and stitched, but the underlying foundations of the face, that is, the muscle structure, largely remains unchanged.

So you have taught skin over untoned muscle which usually gives an unnatural, tight, gaunt look. The muscles continue to slacken with age, taking the skin with them again, and before long another surgical lift is needed. Looking at the faces of many celebrities these days is enough to put me off ever going under the knife. They either look permanently surprised, or their faces don't move naturally when they smile ( botox is another reason for this as it paralyses the muscles so the face ends up looking like a waxwork). How attractive....

Another reason facial exercises make the skin look so great is that all the facial exercising pumps blood and nutrients into the area being exercised, feeding muscles and skin tissue. Often I go out without any foundation or powder as my complexion is so great I don't need to disguise it. When I do wear makeup I choose natural mineral makeup which gives an effortless, flawless finish without being heavy.  I must add that I have been doing these exercises every day, and I mean every day. The book states that once you have learned the advanced level properly, you can drop it down to 2-3 days per week, but I am so worried about my face going back to how it was before I started that I do them every day. Paranoid, yes. But it can't do any harm. The book I worked with states that 10 minutes a day is all you need. I take fifteen minutes, including the warm-up and relaxation, so I guess the exercises take me 11 minutes. So the book is true in it's claims about the time you need to do it.

The book I use for my facial workouts is Eva Fraser's Facial Workout which is available through our store - see below.  Another book that has great reviews is Facercise by Carole Maggio, which we also have available through our store.  Have fun, it really works!
