Mineral Makeup
In the last two sections we have seen how to reverse the ageing process with facial exercises, and what can be done to ensure our skins are kept in tiptop condition.
Now you've done all that hard work you'll be wanting to have some fun beautifying your face with color :-)
But which colors are the right ones for your complexion?
In order to look your best, your makeup colors should enhance your natural coloring.
To make it easy, we all fall into one of the four color 'seasons', depending on our individual hair, eye and skin color/tone. Once you have decided which color season you are from the chart below, it's easy to see which makeup colors flatter your natural coloring and which don't.

Spring Summer Autumn Winter
Spring :
Brown eyeliner and mascara is best. Avoid black. It's too harsh for you and will make you look washed out. Brown really brings out green eyes.
Summer :
Black mascara is best as it is a contrast to your naturally pale eyes and hair. Blue, grey, black , silver eyeliners all work well.
Autumn :
Brown and brown/black mascara works well. Gold, bronze and brown eyeliners look great, as do green and purple. Your unique eye color will determine the ones that work best for you. If you have African colouring, flourescent eyeliners look fantastic.
Winter :
Silver, sapphire blue, midnight blue and black eyeliner are the best colors for winter complexions. Black mascara is the most flattering.
The colors that flatter you best within each season will depend on your individual hair, eye and skin color.
Mineral Makeup
I am a huge fan of natural mineral makeup as it is so quick and easy to apply, and gives such a wonderful healthy look without you having to be the best makeup artist !
I use my mineral makeup foundation as a concealer as well. I find it works particularly well for concealing dark shadows under my eyes. Separate concealers are available, but I still use the foundation as the pigments in mineral makeup are so dense that they cover any blemishes and even out the skintone at the sweep of a brush. Anyone can use this !
I use a vegan kabuki brush ( cruelty-free - not made from animal hair) which is perfect for quickly sweeping it over my face in the morning. I've noticed with mineral makeup that it lasts all day because mineral makeup contains pure minerals with no fillers. My previous face powder foundation used to wear off by lunchtime and I would find myself re-applying it several times throughout the day. Not the case with mineral makeup!
Be careful when choosing brands of mineral makeup, as many of them contain bismuth oxychloride, which brings a lot of women out in a rash.
I use Afterglow Mineral Cosmetics as their range is brilliant - it makes me look so radiant! The range contains no fillers, chemicals or bismuth oxychloride, and they are cruelty-free and most of their range is vegan. The only non-vegan items they stock are the old stock of make-up brushes which are made from cruelty-free animal hair ( they now have a new range of vegan brushes), the pencil liners and the Lip Love Lipstick, which contain beeswax.
